Finance minister says Russia is not in default on Eurobonds

MOSCOW, Apr 12 (PRIME) – Russia has not defaulted on its Eurobonds because foreign investors have failed to receive the payment due to illegitimate actions of the U.S. administration and banks, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told reporters on Tuesday.

“The information published by CN is not consistent with reality. Russia has not announced default on its Eurobond obligations … Illegitimate actions of the U.S. banks and administration stopped processing Russia’s payments in foreign currencies and blocked them for part of foreign investors,” he said.

Siluanov added that as a responsible borrower Russia has made an additional effort to reserve necessary sums in rubles in the national depositary.
